Malawi's ICT Survey Reveals High Mobile Usage and Monthly Expenditure

A recent ICT survey conducted in Malawi has shed light on the country's mobile service usage, revealing that a significant majority of the population relies on mobile networks for communication and internet services.

According to the survey, 82.8% of Malawians use the Airtel network, making it the most popular choice among mobile service providers. Additionally, 59% of the population are active users of TNM sim cards. These figures highlight the deep penetration of mobile services in the daily lives of Malawians.

The survey also delved into the monthly expenditure on mobile services, finding that on average, individuals spend about K5,000 per month on internet services. This amount reflects the growing importance of internet connectivity in both personal and professional spheres.

The government has recognized the potential of mobile technology as a driver of economic growth and is committed to further improving network coverage and affordability. "Our goal is to ensure that every Malawian has access to affordable and reliable mobile services," stated the Minister of Information and Communications Technology.

As Malawi continues to embrace the digital age, the results of the ICT survey serve as a crucial indicator of progress and a foundation for future policy-making in the telecommunications sector.
